Having worked together for several years, the cooperation between MSS Nitrogen and Retecon South Africa has seen significant growth in 2026 and this trend seems well set for continue for the future.
During a recent visit to South Africa with a series of customer visits arranged locally by the Retecon sales team, MSS Head of Sales, Chris Smith reports record levels of sales of the Nitrocube nitrogen generation system for May 2026.
The recent MSS visit was very pleasing, working with the professional Retecon sales team we secured orders for large Nitrocube systems from significant laser cutting businesses in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg. We also made a good number of system demonstrations to a series of other prospective Nitrocube customers at Retecons’ demo centre in Johannesburg where the Retecon in-house demo centre features a Trumpf 1030 6kw laser cutting using high pressure, high purity nitrogen assist gas from a Nitrocube 3 system.
The South African laser cutting market is a good fit for onsite nitrogen generation and we are seeing a lot of interest in our Nitrocube products at present. There seems to be a high level of frustration from laser cutting companies about the high cost of local liquid nitrogen supplies.
In general, our Nitrocube products offer high purity and high-quality nitrogen for laser cutting assist gas use at 25% of the average cost of industrial liquid nitrogen with an average return on investment within 2-3 years or better in many cases. The comparison with multi cylinder gas supply is even more stark where our unit gas costs are around 12% of the cost of the equivalent cylinder pack gas.
Cost savings as above are only one of the reasons that laser users turn to on-site nitrogen generation; gas quality, availability, convenience and environmental benefits are other key factors people consider when choosing our Nitrocube systems. The technology works particularly well in conjunction with solar energy sources as the high pressure gas storage may be used in the place of electrical battery storage or low value energy grid resale options.
MSS & Retecon welcome any further interested gas users to get in touch to learn how the Nitrocube on-site nitrogen generation system can save them overhead costs and bring other benefits to their operations.
With over 1200 laser operating on Nitrocube gas, MSS are global leaders in high pressure generation systems for laser applications. Over 22 years of experience manufacturing in this market now result in MSS equipment being considered as the most efficient and advanced nitrogen generation systems available today.
